It has been almost a decade since the creation of Bitcoin, yet its impact on the world continues to be felt in various ways. One such way is through art inspired by Bitcoin and its technology. Recently, an artist who goes by “Wizard” created a piece of artwork depicting Satoshi Nakamoto — the mysterious creator of Bitcoin — as an alchemist using lightning bolts to create cryptocurrency out of thin air.
The artwork was sold for nearly $150,000 worth of bitcoin (BTC) via Lightning Network transactions – making it one of the most expensive pieces ever sold with cryptocurrency so far! Despite this feat however, Wizard’s work has received criticism from some members within crypto circles due to his choice in payment method – particularly those who identify themselves as “Bitcoin maximalists”.
This group believes that all other cryptocurrencies should not exist and only BTC should be used for payments or investments; they are also critical about any attempts at introducing new technologies into blockchain networks like Lightning Network which could potentially reduce miners’ fees or otherwise affect their profits negatively.
Despite this criticism however, Wizard remains steadfast in his conviction that he made the right decision when choosing how to accept payments for his artworks: “I wanted people around me [to] realize that there are more options than just buying/selling BTC on exchanges.” He went on further say that he hopes others will follow suit and explore alternative ways such as micropayments enabled by newer technologies like Lighting Network – something which could potentially revolutionize digital commerce if adopted widely enough!
